How has Hit Detection changed in version 7

In version 6 and earlier, it was sometimes difficult to select small or thin objects if they are on top of larger objects (e.g. selecting a 1 pixel line on top of a large rectangle).  In order to eliminate this problem, the top most object in a 3 by 3 pixel square at the click point is selected, whether or not it covers the centre pixel of that square. The effect of this is that you no longer need to be quite so accurate when selecting a 1 pixel wide object that has objects behind it.
