How to alter UAC?

This article shows how to alter UAC within Windows Vista and Windows 7. This relates to issues with installation and running of various programs. One particular example is receiving the error: 'The requested operation requires elevation' when running the FrontPage addin for Menu Maker or Webstyle. User Account Control (UAC) is a feature in Windows that can help you stay in control of your computer by informing you when a program makes a change that requires administrator-level permission. UAC works by adjusting the permission level of your user account. Click Start, and then click Control Panel 2. In Control Panel, click User Accounts (if you are using classic view of the control panel then skip step 3) 3. In the User Accounts window, click User Accounts 4. In the User Accounts tasks window, click Turn User Account Control on or off 5. If UAC is currently configured in Admin Approval Mode, the User Account Control message appears. Click Continue 6. Clear the 'User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer' check box, and then click OK 7. Click Restart Now to apply the change right away, or click Restart Later and close the User Accounts tasks window. Windows 7 1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel 2. In Control Panel, click User Accounts 3. In the User Accounts window, click User Accounts 4. In the User Accounts tasks window, click Change User Account Control settings 5.
