Windows 7: Click here for instructions on how to install Xtreme 4 on Windows 7

Versions of Xtreme prior to version 3.2

Xara Xtreme and Xara Xtreme Pro both run from a non admin account on Windows Vista. However both programs require you to install, unlock and initially run the program using an account with administrative access.

Installing:

When installing the program from a non admin account, the user account control window will be displayed requesting an administrative login to continue.

Unlocking

On the first run of the program, right click on the desktop shortcut and select 'run as administrator' This is required even if you are logged into an account with administrative access. This will allow you to run the program and enter your serial number and will prevent the program from requesting your serial number on subsequent runs. The same information applies to the Xara Picture Editor.

The Download version will not allow you to run the program from a non admin account unless it has been unlocked from an admin account. This will result in the warning ‘You do not have sufficient access rights to run the program on this computer‘

The CD version will allow you to run and unlock the program using a non admin account. This will however result in the error ‘error 657.w.re.ry’ (or similar) being displayed after the tip of the day and the program will request the serial number on each occasion that it is run.

Running:

Attempting to install fonts can lead to an access violation. Please run as the administrator if you are going to be installing fonts through the program.

Xara Webstyle 4

Webstyle requires you to install, unlock and initially run the program using an account with administrative access. The download version will not run without administrative access.

Installing:

When installing the program from a non admin account, the user account control window will be displayed requesting an administrative login to continue.

Unlocking

If you are unlocking Webstyle from a non admin account then please right click on the .exe and select to 'Run as Administrator'.

Failure to do so will result in the download version displaying the message ‘To run this webstyle trial, you need to have administrative rights on this pc’

The CD version will request your serial number on each occasion that the program is run if it has not previously been unlocked using an account with admin access and can also fail to register the dll's used by the program.

Running

Right click on the desktop shortcut and select ‘Run as administrator’ This is required only once even if you are accessing the program from an account with admin access. Failure to do so will result in DLL Error messages being displayed.

Webstyle 4 CD will run from an account with non admin access.
