The Xara product range is compatible with Windows Vista. Please find below specific instructions for installing, unlocking and running the Xara programs on Windows Vista.

Menu Maker
The Xara product range is compatible with Windows Vista. Please find below
specific instructions for installing, unlocking and running the Xara programs on
Windows Vista.
Xara Xtreme 5, Xara Xtreme Pro 5 and Xara Web Designer
These products are compatible with Vista 32 and 64 bit. Additionally, all 3 programs are also compatible with Windows 7
Xara Xtreme versions 3.2 and versions 4.01 on Windows Vista
This release is
now fully operational under Windows Vista e.g. it can be used from non-Admin
accounts (on both Windows XP and Vista).
Versions of Xtreme prior to version 3.2 on Windows Vista
Xara
Xtreme and Xara Xtreme Pro both run from a non admin account on Windows Vista.
However both programs require you to install, unlock and initially run the
program using an account with administrative access.
Installing:
When installing the program
from a non admin account, the user account control window will be displayed
requesting an administrative login to continue.
Unlocking
On the first run of the
program, right click on the desktop shortcut and select 'run as administrator'
This is required even if you are logged into an account with administrative
access. This will allow you to run the program and enter your serial number and
will prevent the program from requesting your serial number on subsequent runs.
The same information applies to the Xara Picture Editor.
The Download version will not allow you
to run the program from a non admin account unless it has been unlocked from an
admin account. This will result in the warning ‘You do not have sufficient
access rights to run the program on this computer‘
The CD version will
allow you to run and unlock the program using a non admin account. This will
however result in the error ‘error 657.w.re.ry’ (or similar) being displayed
after the tip of the day and the program will request the serial number on each
occasion that it is run.
Running:
Attempting to install fonts can
lead to an access violation. Please run as the administrator if you are going to
be installing fonts through the program.
Xara Webstyle 4 on Windows Vista
Webstyle requires you to
install, unlock and initially run the program using an account with
administrative access. The download version will not run without administrative
access.
Installing:
When
installing the program from a non admin account, the user account control window
will be displayed requesting an administrative login to continue.
Unlocking
If you are unlocking Webstyle
from a non admin account then please right click on the exe and select to run as
administrator.
Failure to do so will result in the download version
displaying the message ‘To run this webstyle trial, you need to have
administrative rights on this pc’
The CD version will request your
serial number on each occasion that the program is run if it has not previously
been unlocked using an account with admin access and can also fail to register
the dll's used by the program.
Running
Right click on the desktop
shortcut and select ‘Run as administrator’ This is required only once even if
you are accessing the program from an account with admin access. Failure to do
so will result in DLL Error messages being displayed.
Webstyle 4 CD will
run from an account with non admin access.
Xara 3D 6 on Windows Vista
Xara 3D6 runs from a non admin account
on Windows Vista. The Program requires you to install the program using an
account with administrative access.
Installing:
When installing the program
from a non admin account, the user account control window will be displayed
requesting an administrative login to continue.
Unlocking
We recommend the program is
unlocked using an account with admin access. Failure to do so will require the
program to be unlocked by each user on your PC.
Running:
The program does not require
administrative access to run on Vista
Xara ScreenMaker 3D on Windows Vista
ScreenMaker 3D runs from a
non admin account on Windows Vista. The Program requires you to install the
program using an account with administrative access.
Installing:
When installing the program
from a non admin account, the user account control window will be displayed
requesting an administrative login to continue.
Unlocking:
We recommend the program is
unlocked using an account with admin access. Failure to do so will require the
program to be unlocked by each user on your PC.
Running:
The program does not require
administrative access to run on Vista.
Menu Maker on Windows Vista
Menu Maker must be installed from a CD
and unlocked and initially run from an account with admin access. If you
currently have the download version only you will need to order the CD version.
The Program will not install from the download or from a non admin account even
when selecting to run as admin

Ensure you are logged into
an account with admin access when installing the program
Unlocking
If you are unlocking Menu
Maker from a non admin account then please right click on the exe and select to
run as administrator. Failure to do so will require you to enter the serial
number each time the program is run
Running:
The program does not require
administrative access to run on Vista.
